I have the same problem tatts, my plates are illegal in so far as, no "bs code" no "company name and post code" although I have the euro emblem displayed this is above a rover badge which is apparently a no no.
So when my m.o.t. is due I will have to swop my plates for the duration of the test.

I think I am correct is saying that these new regulations do not apply to cars registered prior to a certain date? (2001 IIRC from previous posts)

That is correct, my wifes car has plan plates from new and these don't need changing.

Thought I'd update this.
The ZT sailed through the test with the plates fitted as shown in the photo on Page 1. I had my Driving Licence & V5 with me, incase I needed to get a new set because I thought they do not meet the new regulations. Once I had the pass certificate in my hand, I spoke to the tester & asked him about the new regulations concerning number plates. He said that they apply to plates newly made, not to plates already fitted. So, if you buy a new set then they will have to have the BS Number & Company name, but if you have an old set, they you're ok, as long as the spacing & font meets current requirements. This contradicts what I was told by another tester this morning, but maybe we mis-understood each other. I'm not complaining!

If the MOT people find out that is how he is interpretation the new regulations, he Will soon loose his tester certificate and end up in trouble.
Well done with getting yours through though. The new Regs. clearly state any car registered after 2001 must have the new Legal plates fitted, simple as that. |

Mines booked in for an MOT next monday went down for a chat this morning, my guy (who has passed all my cars for the last 16 years first time) told me he's having to be zero tolerant on letters and spacing so I have got to swop mine over the weekend
