Default Mixing 2 stroke in diesel.

Has anyone ran their cdti on a mix of 2 stroke and diesel?

How did it run?

The TS3 was a great engine when running and a pig to repair. Sounded very distinctive too, when going well and flat out.

Yep. Takes me back - haven't seen a Commer for years.

Can't see why anyone would put 2 stroke oil into a 4 stroke diesel though?

The CDT's run perfectly well on straight diesel oil.

Default 2 Stroke Oil

Yep. Been there, done that !
Added Millers DPP to evey tank from new. Then tried 2 stroke when suggested for added pump lubrication.
What happened ? The very first time I inadvertantly went (just) down to the fuel light my in-tank pump immediately failed.
There are cars that have done over 200,000 miles with no additives in the tank and that's how mine is since the pump went.
Moral......don't let the tank go below a quarter full ESPECIALLY if motorway driving. (fuel does not get sloshed around as when on secondary roads to even fuel in both sides of saddle tank)

Your ITP could well have failed ages before you noticed it, because by keeping the tank above a quarter full the car will run perfectly well with a failed ITP.

Means the UBP has to work harder though, so better to get the ITP changed when it does fail. Most if not all ITP failures are reported as being down to commutator wear, which isn't affected by tank level. There are also venturis and a scavenge pipe to help keep the levels equal in the tank.

With the system running as it should you can use the car like any other and let the fuel run down to the low level if you want. But if the ITP has failed, then as you mentioned, don't let it run below a quarter full until you change the pump.

My ITP is fine. My car has left than 1/4 tank in (according to the guage, but then it moves up to nearly 1/4 when I drive around for a few minutes).

I asked about the 2 stroke oil as its been mentioned around a few forums of people using 300ml to 70l of diesel... Was just inquisitive
