Fitting Kenwood KDC-C469 to Harmony
Ok guys and gals - got a little job lined up for tomorrow, but going to check before I start....
I have the following CD Changer to fit which I rescued from a scrapyard.... it's a Kenwood KDC-C469. I also removed a nice long cable with round ends, and a little black box which was plugged in between the existing stereo, which was also a Harmony. Now, my plan is to mount it in the boot, and I have the bracket to do just that, once I figure out just how it goes together, but my question is can anyone confirm which wires I splice into from the little black box? It was soldered into the existing loom and I did take a picture on my phone, but the quality is bit, well, rubbish. I *think* it is red to purple/white, brown to black and white to white/red....but I'd love some confirmation. Also, is it meant to be cut, or should there be a lovely neat end on it to plug in somewhere? Is it even the right box or is there a better way of doing it? Any info, pictures or assistance appreciated as always. I will be testing it before I go through the trouble of feeding the cable to the boot as I have no idea if it works or not. Was originally mounted in the glove box - I was going to do the same but the boot is my preferred option. Last edited by ZedTeeTee; 23rd July 2011 at 15:57.. Reason: Edited for clarity |

Anyways.....all fitted....with only a minor drama. Connected it all up, works fine, fed cable to boot, spliced all cables in, refitted all bits of dash removed etc and went to fit the boot bracket. Once I worked out how it went, I realised I am missing some of the plastic squares (I assume thats what they are) that the bolts fit into. I was going to simply nut and bolt it into place, but the way a couple of the brackets are means it's not possible. Also, I dont have the brackets to fit to the CD changer to secure it properly either. Solution? Cable ties!!!! Lots and lots of cable ties, cable ties as far as the eye can see......well, at least temporarily. Time to post up in Items Wanted..... |
