Are you using a mobile dongle or wired/wireless in your home via a broadband modem/router/hub ?

Which netbook are you using? I have an Acer Aspire One and it's lovely and nippy for everything, web browsing included. Shoved Windows 7 on it and it's quite happy.

The netbook that i had a go of was a Sony VA10, you say you have An Acer aspire one, which one do you have apparantly there's quite a few variants of the Acer one, i have had a look at Acer and they look well priced.

A10? What are the specs?
All netbook are fairly underpowered, but should be ok for basic websurfing etc. More than likely the one you used just had loads of **** running in the background. |

Sorry its a sony vaio, it was really really slow and there was nothing else running in the background, i thought it was the intel atom processor but theres many different variants of them as well so i thought if they all like this i wont bother.

I'd be very suprised if there was *nothing* running the background.
It's certainly not as slick as a "proper" PC, but its not really that slow. 99% of new netbooks use the Atom CPU. |

I'd have to agree - for web browsing e-mails etc it's quite a nippy little fella. As with computers in general, running whats required rather than what's preloaded or added itself to startup can make a lot of difference, and combined with some very basic maintenance on top can turn a sluggish computer into a capable machine.
