Pump failure seems very common Chris, listen for the 2 double clicks behind the glove box when you operate them & if you hear that the system's working, pop the pump out & put a live & earth to it (pins are marked) & see if it runs. Loads of different BMW models use the same pump but under different part numbers

I take it you've checked the level of your washer fluid. The system is designed to stop delivering water to the headlamp washers when it drops below a certain level, instead directing it exclusively to the windscreen.
Worth checking first just in case. |

Also don't forget the headlamps only wash every five windscreen squirts.

Good possibility is that it is full of gunge!
You can get to the underside of the reservoir tank for under the front offside corner in front of the wheel. Remove the bottom trim / cover from under the corner of the bumper. Remove pump and clean, I think there is a "how to" somewhere. I have had to clean mine a couple of times now. A lot cheaper than new pumps etc. |

There's no filter on the powerwash pump but my powerwash kit didn't work (siezed pump) & at least 3 other cars I know have the same trouble, Mark Bonsai very kindly donated a proper pump for my set up but I discovered that the pumps are the same as old 3 series & 5 series BMs but also an X5 pump is the same as are probably most newer BMWs but the part numbers don't tally, there's usually loads on ebay
