75 1.8t wont start
Hello all, my 75 1.8t went into the garage on Wed last week to have a perished O ring on the water pump replaced. All went well and I picked up the car without any problems. However on Saturday morning I tried to start the car and it didn't want to know.
The car turns over ok but wont fire. I've checked that fuel is making it into the injectors and there is definitely a spark but it wont start. My question to all those far more knowledgable than myself (which is all of you no doubt!) is this: would the garage have to have loosened the timing belt to fix the water pump? I'm just thinking that maybe they haven't re-set the timing properly and that's why it wont start? I'd be grateful for any advice any of you may have so that I can go back to the garage if needed and sound a little more like I know what the hell I'm talking about! Regards, Rich. |

If it ran normally after the garage job, it's unlikly to be the timing. I suspect you've contracted Fuel Filter Syndrome. I suggest one of the first things to do is an Advanced search here for "FFS" (include the quotes) using T-Cut as the poster's name and it may give some clues. If you think this is the problem, seach similarly for "FOC" for the solution.
If it's not that, come back for more advice. TC |

Ok, I've ordered my FOC and have d'loaded the how to's. One question though, do I need to open the fuel filter or can I simply fit the FOC once I've removed the rear seat and panel?
....sorry, two questions. The how to looks great but does anyone have a pic showing the FOC in situ? I've read T-cut's thread here http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ead.php?t=9108 but the image I wanted is missing. Hello Parker, long time no see! I've not been very active on the board lately as I've been snowed under in the last year of my nursing degree. 8 weeks left till I qualify and I've got a job lined up so the pressure is easing a bit now. I noticed there's another meet in July and I'm really hoping I'll be able to attend this one as well. I'll be able to post in the thread in about a week on whether I'll be able to attend. Fingers crossed though, should be a good day out (and hopefully a little warmer than the last meet!) |

as soon as the filter is removed you will see exactly where the clip fits in the recess
if it is partially unscrewed just screw it together. |
