I don't think there is one, I think you just undo the bottom hose connection and pull the pipe off.

Here is a picture of the coolant drain plug.

The picture is from the Rover service manual. Maybe another member could give the exact location..

The plug is to be found at the back of the engine, between the block and the car bulkhead beneath the exaust manifold

thats the rear of the engine as you can see the exhaust down pipe from the turbo

if you cant get to the drain plug - just empty out the coolant - put in just water and run and bleed it - this will flush out and dilute the coolant in the block - then redrain and fill with correct coolant amount

When you say empty out the coolant ... will undoing the bottom rad hose suffice for this?

Also - what's the coolant capacity on the 2.0CDT engine? And how much can you expect it to gulp in during a change without draining the block?

Thanks,
Angus

yes - bottom hose thats what i have done on mine

cdt takes about 8ltrs (total 4ltrs for 50% a/f) - its on a lable on the front slam panel - i would guess the block would hold about 1-2 litres

Just be careful on this, depending on what you are planning to do . I don't have the CDT , but on my v6 just emptying via the bottom hose does not empty all the block or even the cylinder head and manifolds . I found this out to my cost when removing the manifolds on the v6 and ended up filling the valve passages with coolant ! The drain plug is there for a purpose, but I admit to not being knowledgeable about the diesel unit .
