Smile Austin Rover's Talking Dash

What ever happened to the................... Vanden Plas Maestro Digital (Talking) Dash

It was the best, did anyone ever own one? I begged my father to get a Maestro just because of the talking dash.

Were Austin Rover ahead of there time with the talking dash?

Should be fitted to the 75 ooooooo! eeerrrr!

My Dad had one - absolute nightmare - we spent ages finding a way to shut it up

My mate's dad bought an Arum White MG Maestro GHD139Y (now who's sad phil?) & it had the talking dash, he used to call her June "fuel level low" "please fasten your seatbelt" & other classics

Regards Col

You've heard it - it would probably say TOO LOUD, LOW FUEL, TOO LOUD, LOW FUEL - either that or issue it with an ASBO

Last year I had a very early MG Maestro 1600 with the digi-dash. I have allways liked it right back from the 80's. If you find an MG Montego with one fitted which was a more advanced one then it is as rare as rocking horse ----.

There was a volume button on the unit which simply turned it off!

Yep but ours had a fault whereby it would randomly 'shout instructions' when it had been turned off - scarey and dangerous
