Owners Clubs.............

Came across this owners club whilst searching something Rover related on Google. I never would have thought it. I can understand owners clubs for old classics or modern classics (like ours) but would have thought running and maintaining one of these cars would be about as enjoyable as chewing an onion?

I had a MG Montego and found it a great car at the time.
Would have liked to still have it for "mucking around" in.
Can't see any problems with Clubs of this sort personally.

Hey you wouldn't dare slag that club on .org they've laods of them there! And some of them are pretty stunning, especially the montegos.

There's a whole host of them covering all sorts of models.
Some of them may think that our cars are too new to have an Owners club.

Looking at the spares prices at rallies they can cost as much to keep up to as our cars.

But I know what you mean, I'd rather forget my Montego, I just couldn't see myself getting enthusiastic about them. (It was awful)

But I suppose it takes all sorts.

Maestro's are horrible. As for Montego's - my Dad had 2 when I was a kid. The first was a 2lt EFI that had all digital instruments and spoke to you (like KIT off Knight Rider). Second one was a black 2lt Turbo (very very fast for a saloon car at the time) Unfortunately I borrowed this when I was 18 and wrote it off for him when I lost control on a bend (cheap black plastic all over the roadside). He still reminds me to this day (20 odd years later)

. So I am sad to say I am responsible for the demise of at least two of these classics as the car I hit coming the other way was a.....................Montego. I ain't kidding.
Fond memories! Actually, looking back I'm lucky no-one was badly hurt or killed and the very sight of these cars makes me very queasy! That's the worse thing I have ever done - honest!

Theres an owners club for just about anything. There is even a moustaches and beards owners club!!

I'm sorta of the opinion that no matter how few miles a car has done, how perfectly preserved it is, and how painstakingly restored it has been, if it was a bad car 20 years ago, it's still a bad car today.. Only difference being that it's now a RARE bad car.. Some motors died out for a reason, it's like automobile natural selection..
