Default Engine noise, please help.

Hi everyone, I am new in this forum. I'm Nicolò and i'm from Italy. I have a Rover 75 2.0 V6 (year 2002). The engine for 1 month has a strange noiose and it's located where there Is the inlet manifold. Did anyone have a problem like mine?

Please let me know. Thanks.

How can I share with you the registration of the noise?

EDIT: Here is a video for you.

A rattle inside the upper inlet manifold (black) is a very common problem, lots of YouTube videos about the subject.

No solution other than to find a better one, or remove the internals (not easy). The Chinese ones look very similar but their inlet manifold is different and the mounting holes don't line up.

You can check the condition by removing the horizontal VIS power motor, four screws, inside you'll find a brown arm, the arm should move firmly left and right, any up or down movement indicates damage. One I've experienced had the brown arm so loose that it was almost possible to pull it out.

Good luck

The noise might be the VIS valves or, more seriously, the inlet manifold starting to fail. The EGR ticking away can sound similar too.

You can send a short video to [email protected] which we can then host up and post for you.

This video shows how to remove the VIS motor as mentioned in Vitesse's reply: https://youtu.be/Gz_O1G1IThY

Watch the video from 1 minute and 8 seconds. Take the VIS motor out and check the arm as described by Vitesse.
