Brg75
Hi everybody and a big thank you for all the messages sent since I was hospitalised, on 28th November last year. I was discharged into community care, on Monday 16th January.
Basically I have spinal cord damage, resulting from a blackout and unfortunate landing on my face and neck. I can type (very slowly) with my right hand, and shuffle along with a zimmer. As further progress occurs, I hope to be taken out and about; a breakfast meet is my aim, with 3 - 6 months in mind, but could be longer. Regards Mike

Good to know you are on the road to recovery. Take it slowly and you will soon at a breakfast meet.

Mike, its so good to hear your home and on the mend after such a terrible time. With patience and lots of practice, all going well you'll be back at the breakfast meets in no time. Perhaps we can get the sausages slow cooked for you.
Best wishes mate,

You have been to Hell and back! Given you can type with your right hand slowly and shuffle along with a zimmer is a good start. You had a horrible injury and spent a long time in hospital, thank goodness you are out and made it home. I am sure when the time comes someone from one of the meets will be able to collect you and run you there and back. It will be something to look forward to. There is a lot of kindness and generosity of help and spirit, all you have to do is ask and tell people how you are, do keep posting and it’s important whilst you are recovering, doing physio, setting targets……….. Try and keep a positive mind. I wasn’t able to get to a meet before we flew to Kenya, but I know the members from the meets - some reprobates, are good lads at heart and the meets are a boost! Take it easy, keep us updated. We send our best, Philip and Jessica |
