Default Clutch cruise control switch

Chaps, at long last after several attempts at finding the switch I have - the reason for looking is that cruise has never worked, the light comes on at the dash switch and that is it and in other threads the clutch switch is sometimes the culprit.

It seems that this switch pushes back when the clutch pedal is up - holding the pedal down slighty I can push it back where it is held in the metal of the pedal box. The parts diagram does not show any actual fixing and I therefore assume that there is something on the actual switch that should retain it in position. Is this the case? If so I assume a new switch is the order of the day and then perhaps cruise control.

Any help most welcome.

(It is a CDT)

imagine a cube - with a square hole cut through it - with a short ratchetty kitkat piece stuffed in it. push the kitkat bit from the back towards the pedal to remove any gap.

Mine worked after doing this. Try one on the brake pedal too - cant remember which of mine didnt work.

Thanks Pondweed

Actually managed to pull it out and disconnected it so that I could take a closer look. I assume it works on the Hall effect principle.

However, the actual piece that is in the metal to take the actual switch seem to have the retainer on one side broken - one side pulls back a little whilst the other side is fixed.

I then tried to push the actual switch back in - no joy.

On the basis of the broken piece I will order a new switch which I assume comes with the retainer and fit a new one - if it works then problem solved if not one part eliminated.

Great fun to get at.

If the switch comes without the mounting, I'm sure it's the same size as the brake one. Ask Les@SMC if he can sort a brake one out which are a bit ore common

Now a white switch. The body of the actual switch in my car is black - so I assume that it is the wrong switch. Is this correct

Thanks

Have a search on crusie and switch, I think one is single and the other is double pole. But on later models ISTR one switch fits all.

Thanks David. As mine is a 2001 must be an earlier one.

Did see that the brake was double and the clutch single. The clutch in mine, as I say, is black with 4 terminals and there is a plug that fits - however, the correct one? must be fitted to the brakes as the brake lights work - unless they were swapped around when the PO had the clutch changed.
