Catalytic converter
Hi all. Got a blow on my exhaust. Had a backbox about 6 months ago. Have sourced a centre section cause that looks rotted.
I have decided to replace the cat front section as well Any recommendations on a type approved catalyst that's not to expensive...

Not sure that means anything these days. But you could start at the current Xpart quality and work down. It all depends on your budget. Xpart/Rimmer: https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-WCJ000522P eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...erter&_sacat=0 TC |

Thanks for the reply tc.
What do you think of React Catalytic Converters? Had one a couple of years ago on my BMW Z3 found it ok Can pick one up for about £80. Just a bit bothered about next year's mot emmisions test.

In my experience cheap catalysts rarely last more than a couple of years, I have a customer with an old Galaxy that she wont get rid of so its my job to get it through its annual test. The original cat was taken out by a road hump and Ford want nearly £500 for a new one. The cats I put on it every second year cost me under £50 with gaskets.
Genuine cats will often pass with a short run around the block but cheap ones often need 5 mins revving the car up to 2000rpm. How long are planning on keeping your car and do you do your own work? |

Thanks again for the reply's.
Going to be keeping the car a while yet. There is just something about driving my ztjust feel at home in it. Do all my own work on the car( head gasket, timing belts ect) It's a bit awkward getting the exhaust off on my back so was going to get the parts and let my local garage fit it.

The genuine MGR catalysts (ceramic) for 75/ZT range cost around £500 - £600 each back in the day. Imagine what that would be fifteen years later. If you want the most cost effective solution get the Xpart version.
