![]() When I got my car 6 minths ago now (has it been that long already!!!) I had the lower engine mount, the 'figure of 8' so to speak, replaced. Mine was knackered and upon pressing the accelerator the engine felt like it wanted to swing out of place.
Not happy with the vibrations I still had, I assumed other engine mounts were also knackered. I was right. Replaced the upper engine mount, the hydramount and also the upper tie rod. I followed the 'how to' guide from here except I dropped the engine slightly. I assumed that having the other mounts in place it wouldn't shift much. I think that by doig that (schoolboy error I know) I may have knackered the exhaust mounts as I have an extra vibration that was not there. The best way to describe it is like the exhaust is banging on the chassis (which it probably is). Only when turning car off this happens which leads me to believe I've knackered the next engine/gearbox mount when I released the pressure on the top mount. I need to get under the car and remove the panel and check. I may just replace the exhaust mounts for the sake of it. I doubt they have ever been replaced. That may sort the exhaust knocking on chassis noise. I also heard there is a gearbox mount, but not been able to find the part. My engine is the M47 diesel one. At low speeds when the engine jiggles there is a knocking noise too. When in 1st or 2nd gear and you drop the accelerator pedal or release the clutch quickly. Can't seem to find the part on DMGRS site and ebay just point me to used ones.

![]() If you have a replacement back box then the pipe may have slipped round where it clamps to the original and twisted down. This can cause it to bang against the the cross struts.
