Default End of the road

Looks like I will be selling the black V6 as spares or repairs or breaking it. Just failed mot and I just don't have the money to fix it any more now I am alone. Lots of toys if anyone is interested. The engine light came on last night right as it was being picked up for mot. It needs lamda sensor, two bulbs (I cant believe I checked them Sunday!) nail in tyre, tyre brand new, usual handbrake issue etc etc. Will post all the details in a thread later.

Really upset as I never had to scrap a car before. But over £500 for garage to fix is too much.

It would be a shame to break it, is there no one that could help with the repairs? A lot of that cost would be labour.

That is a shame to move it on because of those faults, I hope something happens to help you change your mind.

Hi Dawn,

Just read your post about the black 75, bring it down to the first nano meet and most that can be done just for the cost of the parts!

Give us a chance to help you with it?

Regards,

Tom.

P. S. Your not alone we are still here for you!

It’s a shame we don’t see many ‘fix it meets’ on this club. On the 200 coupe club that I’m a part of, this is a regular fixture where members who are struggling with their cars rally rounds the troops who get together and spend a day or weekend fixing members cars up. All for nothing, well bacon sarnies and drinks. I hope your car can be rescued. With it being black and having the toys, it sounds like a rare one.

Dawn,
Ive checked to see what you failed on.

Point 1 and 2 are minor issues and you can sort yourself.

The worst thing here are point 3,4, so it may just be the sensor need replacing to fix all of these points.

Point 5 and 6 sounds like basic adjustments needed.

As for the advisories, leave them until the summer time to sort out. I doubt these failures warrants £500 to fix!!!. Fix the bulbs and a reputable garage will sort the rest for you. Go somewhere else.

  1. Offside Rear Registration plate lamp not working (1.1.C.1d)
  2. Nearside Rear Rear position lamp(s) not working (1.1.A.3b)
  3. Exhaust emissions Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits (7.3.D.3)
  4. Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive (7.3.D.3)
  5. Nearside Rear rear brake recording little or no effort hand brake (3.7.B.5a)
  6. Parking brake: efficiency below requirements (3.7.B.7)

£500.00 sounds over the top to me for a few repairs ok the lamda might be the biggest cost. Lights are next to nothing and the normal handbrake most times is just a new kit 25.00 worth in parts and adjust. I just had mine done last week on the 2.5.
Hope there is someone in your area in this club who can help

very often its a case of better the devil you know. You could get rid of/scrap then buy something else that needs all manner of things doing to it - with costs to match ( and no club like this one to help out ).
