Default dash trim

Just noticed whilst sorting through my "plastic" walnut dash trim for my new acquisition.. as it needs some bits changing..

Anyway - I noticed that one plastic set has a metal backing and the other has no metal backing.. so - was there 3 stages of trim then?

i.e. Proper wooden Dash, plastic with metal backing then cheaper plastic with no backing??

just wondering..

It's my understanding that the wood veneer dash has a metal backing and there's no requirement for such in the later ABS facings. Whether some wood veneers have a backing and others not, I've no idea.

Yes . Three version , real wood with metal backing , plastic with metal backing ( my 51 plate tourer had this ) then just the plastic without metal backing.

Which one of your car is that ?

The no backing one must be the cheaper ones found on the later cars I suspect?
