Any air rifle experts?

My mum asked me to dispose of an old air rifle that she found at my late uncles house when she was clearing it after he passed away.
It's been in her loft for years.
I'm actually thinking about keeping it.
No idea what it is though.
The only markings on it say "made in Hungary 64794"
It looks quite old, apart from the sight which looks newer.
It's a .22 and from a few tests I've done in the garden it seems fairly powerful (although I'm no expert)
Anybody have any idea what it is I've got?

Probably a Relum.

Put a picture up on the airgunforum.co.uk and I'm sure they will be able to identify staright away.

I just googled Relum air rifles and I think it's a Telly 200.
Can't see an exact match but that's the closest.

If you are going to keep it be careful..A .22 is quite powerful and can do serious damage especially at close range.

I would research the model and check the muzzle velocity. If it is more than 600 feet per second then as far as I know power above that was illegal, at least in my younger days it were.
I remember weapons from Hungary going way back and some were good and some were rubbish.
The law may have changed since I were into air weapons so I would research the law too because if you have something above that M/V speed you would need a fire arms licence.

Off the top of my head I believe the UK legal limit velocity is under 12 pounds, anything above this would require the owner to be in possession of a firearm's licence. Also a Police approved metal storage cabinet is obligatory and must be bolted to a solid wall.

I doubt if the weapon is over the 12 pound limit but to be on the safe side you could take it to a gunsmith's for testing or contact your local force firearm's officer for advice.

Anything over 12 ft-lb you'll need a licence- highly doubtful it is though. You won't need a cabinet, just a slip to keep it in through which it can't be fired. Be careful, have (responsible) fun!

I have a 22 Relum which is the name Muler in reverse. It's quite a nice old thing and I got it in bits from a local tip years ago. I once had a BSA Meteor that I paid £8 for, I then set about tuning it for power increases. My local gunsmith then was Oliver Sommers in Wigan, he had the facility to measure the ft pounds output. I got it up to 19 ft pounds in the end but it took a lot of work. After that one I bought an Airsporter but, it was terrible to get more power from so I got rid. I've no plans to play with the Relum as yet but, who knows? They can be great fun if you are sensible.
