Wishbone bush removal?
I've been getting all the bits together in preparation for the bush and bracket removal and replacement. To make removal of the old carrying bracket from the inner part of the bush and wishbone, I'm wondering about one of these:-
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hand-Wire-Sa...-/131358658164 Push the cutting wire through the gap and saw. Cut through the rubber (what's left) to separate the inner and outer bush, then the outer and metal bracket should just fall off in effect, leaving the inner sleeve and bush on the wishbone (shouldn't it?). This would be easier to get at and remove than trying to get the whole lot off (shouldn't it?) All comments appreciated. Mike

I've done a few over the years - some just fall off so worth giving it a tug before cutting anything. |

I did this job on both sides earlier this year as well as the drop-links
The tools used included a good quality 18mm combination spanner and an 18mm ratchet spanner. The car was raised on axle stand high enough to crawl under to get the best spanner access to the bolts. During dismantling the bushes came off remarkably quick with a bit of lubrication and a hammer. I did make a mistake first by buying a cheap 18mm combination spanner which was too loose a fit and risked rounding the bolt heads. When refitting the bushes, it is okay to slide them on 60 degrees out when you slide them onto the splines as this is easier to do. If you keep everything lubricated with washing up liquid, it is safe to rotate them to the correct angle once pushed back. The fiddly bit is always the refitting of the bolts ...

Should I remove the arch liner first or can it be left in place?
