Talking Car boot bargain today.

casually wandering round local boot today and see on the ground under a stall a boxed Britool torque wrench. Took it out the box and it looks brand spanking new apart from tatty cardboard box.

Two women on the stall (30's and 50's I'd say) and younger one says to me "make me an offer". Now, I hate it when people say that as it puts you on the spot. So, I shrug my shoulders and say " what do you want for it". She looks at older one who says nothing, looks at me and says "two quid" !!!!!!!

Chap next to me, his eyebrows nearly shoot off the top of his head as I get my money out.

Nice one mate, love it when that happens...same as you though as I hate being put on the spot and being asked to make an offer as I'm useless at valuing anything lol

DONE: HAD A CRAZY IDEA THAT I HAD TO GET RID OF MY MG ZTT DUE TO NOT HAVING A DRIVE AND HAVING TO PARK ON A BUSY STREET WITH A VIEW TO GETTING ANOTHER ONE AT A LATER DATE WHEN I HAVE A DRIVE.

ENDED UP REALISING IT REALLY ISN'T PRACTICAL NOT HAVING A CAR TO GET AROUND AND I NOW OWN A VW EOS 3.2 V6 INDIVIDUAL (1 OF 20 REMAINING IN THE UK WITH THAT ENGINE AND TRIM COMBO) EVEN THOUGH I STILL LIVE ON A BUSY ROAD WITHOUT A DRIVE

Nice find and a nice addition to the toolkit

I was at a small local classic car show last Sunday and was just browsing around the four stalls that made up the autojumble. Had a root through a box of old bits and bobs and uncovered a nice pair of Smiths Jaguar dials, a speedo and a rev counter. I asked the guy how much for the pair and he said £8 mate, so I had them and walked away with a smile on my face.
About three weeks ago I listed an exact same pair of dials on eBay which came out of the wife's grandad's garage, many years ago. I got £137 for the pair and off they went to Poland! Listed my newly acquired dials last week with a starting bid of £19.99 each, we'll see how they do

I love it when you find a bargain

Might be worth your while to send the under bidders a quick message to let them know you've listed some more.

Default Snapon

Went to a boot sale a long time ago and found a Snapon 3/8 square drive socket ratchet. Asked how much, was quoted 50p by the young lady who had no idea what it was. Result!!!

i bought an old tin box from a carboot sale in Southport in the 90's, it was all rusty and had been glued shut, upon opening it, i found a tenner in a money bag and a set of false teeth in a sponge holder.... needless to say i buried the lot in a nice place in the countryside, with the tenner still in, i think it must have been the remains of some one and the previous owner couldn't bear to bury it, the tenner? i can only think it was placed there to pay the ferryman so to speak.
