Default Tyres

I have had 4 new tyres fitted on a Rover 75 Connoisseur 2.0 Cdti registered December 2003. They have fitted Fulda Eco Control extra load 215/55/16R 97H on the driver's side and Fulda Eco Control 215/55/16R 93H on the passenger side. Should I be worried that they have different load index on each side?

I think it's just tyre sizes that effect driving if I remember correctly. Just load heavier items on the side that takes more weight lol

Seriously though, if concerned, go back to the garage and demand they match the tyres all round.

Thumbs down Go back and ask them to try again!

if it was me, I'd go back to the fitter and demand the same tyres. Different load ratings affect the sidewall stiffness. It may not be that big a deal, but for peace of mind, I would definitely want them all the same.

You have possibly invalidated your insurance. You can not have different size/rated tyres on the same axle. Sorry.

Why would it invalidate your insurance? I hear this a lot..... It won't. It may affect a payout to you if you're fully comp but will not affect any third party cover. You will still be insured sufficient for the Road Traffic Act.

Anyway. It's an offence to have different tyre sizes or structure ie radial and cross ply on the same axle. But! Keep in mind a space saver. It's much different but the rolling circumference is the same and therefore perfectly legal.

So long as the speed rating and load ratings are suitable for your car then they remain perfectly legal. If it was me however, I'd want the same ratings or at the very least the same matched ratings on the same axle. So long as they aren't directional tyres fitted then that's easy rectified by swapping a couple of wheels around.

Poor tyre fitter to let that out of his shop though.

Firstly, they should have checked with you before fitting different load rated tyres.

Secondly, it would have been a much better idea to fit the matching pairs on the same axle.

Possibly just an oversight on their part. I would take it back and tell them your not happy, see what their reaction is. They should at least swap the wheels round to match ratings to axle

Yes, you should go back

Apart from anything else they need to be V speed rated not H

Don't you just love it when a tyre fitter lobs on any old black round thing because you have an old car
