Really good pics. and great idea of the WIP on the new job - have 'they' decided exactly who's paying for that one by the way….?

Cracking pics - one of the best I've seen of the Queensferry Crossing at night.

Thanks. Focusing is something I need to work on as I find it very difficult to get the whole picture sharp, as you can probably tell from the pictures. It's quite frustrating to say the least. Perhaps some other here can advise me on how to improve this?

I've no idea who's paying!

Had a nice walk across the bridge too last night. Good exercise and surprisingly calm, barely any wind for a change. The full moon kept popping out now and again and the Planet Jupiter shining bright high in the sky.

Great photos

Hints from me are,

Lens on big F stop number, low ISO and mirror lock , manual focus using live view zoomed in and use a remote or timer shutter release .
Switch off image stabilisation on the lens (if it has it) when mounted on a tripod as most (but not all) i.s modes get fooled when used on a tripod.

That's my best advice that I can think of

ISO is mostly used at 200 unless I have to change it, but I avoid it if I can.

F stop no in the bridge pic was 13.

I Always use remote shutter and always on tripod.

Image stabilisation I switch off when doing long exposures.

This was taken on auto focus. Problem I have with manual focus, is that I could zoom in on a particular area of the frame and get it clear and then zoom back out, take the picture and the other bits that I haven't focused on are out of focus. I don't get this.....

Try increasing the aperture number still further, from the distance your shooting I would have thought you would be focusing on infinity anyhow ?

The focusing sharpness is going to depend on the focal length and depth of field anyhow and to be honest your shots don't look bad to me

P.s, photobucket does have a habit of softening images in its compression .
I bet your original files look a lot sharper still

Yes, will try increasing aperture further next time. Originals do look a little sharper, yes but still something that I want to improve on.
