V8 numberplate
I have a new plate... V26 0MG
If I was to get it printed up as V260 MG....or V 260 MG Am I destined to fail an MOT, or does no one care about this anymore? I read somewhere on private plates, there is only a minimum letter spacing required..... So technically the above appears to be ok...? |

Im not touching fonts or anything. its boggo standard, with an EU band thing, all I want to do is put a space in one or two places.
Last MOT guy FAILED me for a flaming wiper blade, can you believe? I was like "ok, I can get a replacement straight after" and after an argument, he failed it, then passed it again before I left. REALLY annoyed me, because now the MOT fail is recorded on the database, for a damn wiper blade... (there was a small loose piece, and I tore it off to make it pass). |

You can always put your old plates on for mot purposes but the spacing on what you propose is not in accordance with the guidance as you are moving a character from one group to another
I have a friend with a private plate who did similar to what you want to do and was pulled by the police and warned to take it off yet I know others who have never been pulled with plates that are spaced the same I guess the police have better things to do but that doesn't mean 1 day that you won't get pulled so you need to make that decision yourself but it does carry a fine if they want to use the full force of the law

Depends on the way the car is being driven and how bored the police are at the time..... Been there ..... Nowadays ANPR cameras are everywhere and they will flag an unrecognised number plate in an instant, then it would depend on how lucky you are with local Police presence. Most people reading the legitimate number will recognise it for what it is...... and smile accordingly

Cant make up my mind whats better:-
V260 MG or V 260 MG..... I think the former stands out less, but the latter makes it clearer! |

Agree with the above replies with respect.
If you are going to chance it then V260 MG is the better bet . I like the look of it and V 260 MG in my opinion would look to clumsy and defo a puller. You can have them made up almost any where but the will be classed as show plates. I have a few private plates but done through Demonplates that requires a copy of your driving licence and the V5 to make the legal. The funny thing is they make a legal 6.5" x 6.5" which needs the above documents, but it has got turned down twice by the MOT for being to small So its all a bit of a touchy subject imho. So I have the full size plates to just basically velcro on for MOT's. Problem sorted. If you do get pulled with V260 MG then it would have to be some 'jobs worth'. Just get some legal spaced number plates made up and just clip them on for the MOT

To protect the Club, and its' members, the above statements of by-passing the laws cannot be supported by the Club as it implies that a relocation of alpha numerical number plate digits can be allowed. This is not so, except for off- road use. DO NOT USE SUCH NUMBER PLATES THAT ARE NOT COMPLIABLE WITH THE LAW ON THE ROADS... End of...
PLEASE NOTE Sorry (not), but it had to be made clear....
