Default Photo Printer Recommendation

I am looking to buy a printer that does quality pictures and wondered if there are any recommendations

I know there are pro versions but they are too expensive for my budget which is about £150 ish and wondered what others on here are using

I have never had a Canon printer and was thinking of going down that route, doesn't have to be an all in one but desirable.

Problem is when you start looking there seems to be hundreds of different models and almost too much choice

I have been looking at the Canon MG7550 which sells for about £120 and has a lot of good feedback

Hi Bob,

I myself am looking into getting a Canon printer albeit an A3 job

I've had HP printers for years but the last ones (which weren't cheap) have both been very unreliable so I'm reluctant to recommend them.

For photo quality printing it does seem to be the more inks the better.
Certainly don't go for one with just two ink cartridges .

Good luck and let us know what you get and how you get on with it

As Jeff says, the more inks the better. Saying that I don't print myself at all. Online printing is quite reasonable as long as your not in a hurry.

Local Tesco here has photo printing in-store, Blue Tooth, SD Card, Pendrive among the connection types, load it up, wait a while and leave store with all your photos quality printed, and likely cheaper than DIY printing at home.

They are great for snaps but if your serious about your photography you will want to print yourself and have control over the final image.

Alternatively you can use a specialist print shop or online service who will run off contact sheets etc for you to choose/get the desired image

Try and find one which has an extra red ink, in addition to the usual magenta. It's astonishing how much better prints are when red is red, as opposed to a mixture of magenta & yellow.

Thanks guys, i do like doing my own printing and take many pictures of my grandson that some of the family also ask for, and plenty of the 75/ZT that none of the family ask for. I will also give on line printing a go as never done it before !

What-ever printer you go for, look to see if you can get bulk ink for them.

I used to print a lot of photo's and was using a set of six cartridges (was an Epson photo printer) probably every 3 or 4 days when doing the odd photographic job.

I found a bulk ink system, and was so much cheaper.

Yes thanks and a question I forgot to ask are genuine ink cartridges really worth the extortionate price they sell for ?

For me, Canon every time, best dpi of all and also multiple cartridges.

Cannot see the difference between Canon cartridges and my local refiller.

My Canon is a printer only as I feel all-in-ones must be a compromise. Scanner is an HP.
