Terrific shots.
I agree, there's not a lot between cameras these days at all. Love the shots of the bird. |

I have used loads of superzooms, and this cheap Kodak is as good/better than any Canon/Nikon/Fuji, the sensors are all the same, the lenses are sourced from the same place (asia optics is a big one), the range is amazing, going from 24mm equiv wide angle (no soft corners) to 1248mm equiv (52x optical!!!!) and many of those shots were at the extreme end of the zoom with some digital zoom thrown in too, incredible, this was unthinkable not very long ago

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kodak-Pixp...item3cec123d31 Methinks someone spotted a good opportunity. If you take a look at what else there is in the £100-£200 price bracket you'll not find a 1200mm+ lens (like on the camera in question) anywhere. I think most compact and bridge camera sales are aimed at those that look at the zoom figure only, when they should be looking at the lens focal length as well. A lens that's only 20mm zoomed out is only 400mm at 20x zoom, Most compacts and even some bridge cameras are much wider angle than that 20mm before multiplying by the zoom: making them all but worthless for the longshots the large zoom figure will try and con you it can manage. The kodak in question appears to be a rare exception. Now I've decided I want one at that price I can't have it.

Ebay/Argos outlet are still selling them for £99.99, absolute bargain for this camera, Ebay item number 171745454552.
Seems there is also an extra 15% off for the next 4 days. |
