Default Combined Brake/Clutch switch - Auto Cruise control

Hi There,
I had a gent wanting me to help sort why his (retrofitted) cruise control was not working. When I put the T4 on his car, it was saying that the Brake/Clutch pedal was pressed, but the brake lights were off.
Is this probably down to the wrong switch being fitted to the car?
The car is a 2.5V6 Auto.

Is there a quick and easy way to check the switch? What switch should be fitted? I am not finding rimmers website (http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID001669) very clear as to what switch may be fitted.

The fitted switch appeared to be black from the pedal side (but I didn't dig too deep, as I know I don't have a spare brake light switch, so no point getting it out, just to refit)

Thanks
Chris

I know some times the brake/clutch switches need to be reseated as the do/can become dislodged.Worth just to try pushing them back in
