![]() Hi all saw the wheeler dealer episode where they ceramic coated the exhaust manifold on a XJC. Would it be a good idea to do that to our cars?
Many Thanks Chris.

![]() you can get manifolds dipped and baked for show purposes where the pipework is prominent in the engine bay, but it does not improve performance or life... and is very expensive

![]() In my head I have a blank cheque lol. Plus I like to ask questions that will broaden my general knowledge of automotive engineering . I visited one website and it was promoting from sports cars to classics.

![]() A general ceramic coating (which can be used for something like the paintwork on your car or the wheels) would not survive the exhaust tip.
I haven't seen the show, and I don't know what they used. But if it's anything like the SiO2 based ceramic coating which are used in car detailing/valeting, it won't survive the temperature of the exhaust.

![]() ceramic coating does work and reduces temps or keeps temps where they work best.
My pistons are coated on crowns and skirts and I always get my manifolds done. I use camcoat in warrington. Have a look at there website and it explains the many different types of coatings and what is suitable for what application. |

![]() Not familiar with Zircotec, so can't comment on that.
If you are thinking about going down that route, I'm very interested on how it performs.
