No Indicators, radio, satnav, rain sensing...
Started car up, everything fine. Music playing, sat nav screen. Just pulled out of Tesco, and the screen went black, radio stopped working, indicators stopped working and the rain sensing wipers not responding to the heavy rain.
I stopped, turned the car ignition off and restarted. The BMW logo came on the sat nav, but then black and same symptoms no radio, indicators etc. At the moment it is dark and rainy so I was going to leave it until tomorrow. Earlier that day I was towing a trailer with lighting board in rain. The car is a 2004 diesel saloon. Any ideas? |

If the indicators themselves are working on the car, but the telltales on the instrument panel don't work, something may have got wet in the car, and may be affecting the k-bus. Check the boot area for water, as well as the carpets in the passenger footwell. When the rain stops, check the plenum area for a drowned ECM.

Goooood Morning chaps.
Well, what a gorgeous morning it is, sun is out, sky is blue, nice music playing on my 75's radio. Sat nav seems a brighter shade than ever before. And the faults have disappeared! The only fault now is a bulb blown, and found that is one of my brake light bulbs. Strange! There is no sign of damp in the boot. Not checked the plenum yet, but will do today as I am going to get dirty with my baby. 2 tubs of Castrol Edge at the ready. Thanks for the swift replies. |

6 months later..
Happened again, sods law, 15 minutes before the MOT! Sorry to bring up this thread again. I was just about to take the Rover for the MOT test. As it was raining I tried to close the sunroof which was in the tilted position. Didn't work. Indicators do work, but no interior indicator lights or sound. No Sat Nav, no radio. When it was dry I checked in the boot area around the radio tuner and it wasn't really wet. A couple of splashes probably caused by drips taking the protective covering off. I have not checked the plenum chamber yet, but i have it pretty much sealed off to leaves now. Just checked the car this morning and it is the same symptoms, with an added fault from last time, the drivers side door showing it is open, so the remote central locking doesn't work. Looks a nice day so I will open the boot and allow a bit of drying. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance |
