Default kenwood 6cd player

My Kenwood 6cd player mounted in the boot is playing up. Its is sometimes not working and at other times interrupts the radio and cassette making them sound like Jim Davidson's dodgy mike. I know it is the cd doing this as I disconnected the lead and the radio and cassette are fine. Do you think I need a replacement cd unit or is there an easy fix?
Note my boot was getting wet and this has been fixed several weeks tago by sealing the rear light clusters.

Thanks for any advice
