![]() The issue's been there as long as I've had the car but want to sort it before the winter.
Basically I can't lock the car using the fob. Instead I have to lock the car using the master switch inside then lock the drivers door with the key outside. Using the key in the door will not lock the whole car, only the drivers door. The lock mech. itself has been replaced twice with known working locks and the problem persists. In addition: to open the car I can either press 'unlock' on the key or via drivers door key hole to unlock as normal. I haven't been able to activate the alarm as I don't think it arms (nor does the deadlocking). None of the doors/bonnet/boot appear open on the message display when they're shut so the car knows they are close. I have two keys and the function is the same for both. I have tried re-syncing the fobs, but to no avail. I've exhausted the (rather useless) forum search function which has proven fruitless. My thinking is either a faulty control unit or a break in the wiring somewhere but if anyone has any ideas, they would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Richard |

![]() The locking signal from the ECU must be missing.
The way you lock the car at the moment is with the overide system. ( ie. does not involve the ECU. ) Somebody who understands the electrical system might be able to tell you which wire from the ECU you need to check. ( Might be a break in the wire or maybe just a poor spade connection. ) Colvert. ![]() |

![]() If you have no joy beforehand, we have a nano meet on 20 October and you can get a T4 session there, plus some expert technical advice from owners who do not use this forum, only 30 minutes or so down the motorway from you and you will be welcome

![]() Hi
My old Rover 800 used to occasionally do this, to reconnect the fob buttons i used to sit in the car and push drivers button down to lock all doors, then i kept pressing the unlock button on the fob whilst waving fob in air and eventually doors will unlock themselves via the button then your reconnected via the fob. Not tryed it on a Rover 75 as i mention but dont see why it shouldn't work. Give it a go and let me know if it works. Mark |
