Default fault code po340 ???

Been playing with my tablet and torque app and found this fault code p0340 camshaft sensor ?. Looked code up on here and it says its a crankshaft sensor fault code ???. Check engine light is not on. So cleared the code off and went for a drive checked it when i got home and it had not come back. Been out again got home and checked it again and yep it was back. Still no check engine light ? Any ideas ?? theres a tread somewere on here about the crank-sensor wires getting burnt by the heat off the turbo but cant find it now !!!

P0340 fault is "camshaft sensor - no signal". I don't know enough about this diagnostic to help, but it's definitely not a crankshaft sensor fault. It suggests a possible intermittent open circuit fault with the sensor itself or an intermittent wiring / connector fault. I haven't enough experience of the practical side of these failures to offer any advice. Good luck though!

The Gendan (http://www.gendan.co.uk) code bank says this for P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)

Glad you've got the fault's identity sorted, and hope the same will be true of the fault itself. I read the code from the Siemens Software Specification for the V6, which shares the diagnostic software definitions with the K4.
