Unfortunately, i'm in Bristol so a little way from you & don't know of anyone in the North Wilts area.

As already said though, it might be worth saying what you would like doing ?

Hi there, I'm in Bristol too over in Brislington. I'm looking for someone to do a head gasket on a 1.8T. The nearest specialist I've found to do a good job for reasonable money is the mobile mechanic from Derby or TS Auto's in the Midlands. There doesn't appear to be anybody around these parts with any experience??

Looking for general support really, someone who can help me look into issues as and when they occur.

Currently I have loud clattering which would seem likely to be the crankshaft pulley so I've booked into a local mechanic whom I don't know. Would just be nice to have a specialist nearby.

What engine do you have? If it's a V6 I may be able to help.
I see your in Calne?

I have a diesel engine which I believe will require a little tinkering to get it running properly. Fuel consumption is around 37mpg at the mo and I am starting to work my way through the standard checks to get it back to a reasonable level.

PCV changed, oil and air and fuel filters changed. EGR has been blanked by previous owner.

Next to do will be to check the MAF

I've been recommended to go to http://www.motest.co.uk/locations/swindon.shtm#MG_Rover - but haven't used them myself yet, so can't comment.
A friend who runs 2 R75 diesels always goes to http://www.haskinsgarage.co.uk/index.cfm - who I think used to be an MGR dealer.
There is an independent BMW specialist in Lydiard Millicent, who I don't know, other than has been there a long time (if that is anything to go by ).
