Default Sanding Lacquer Peel

Does anyone know if you can sand lacquer peel off the bumper and then reapply? or is it just a disaster waiting to happen if I try this?

The paint on my bumper is in good fettle, but the bumper looks like ginger who's spent too long in the sun

Thanks
Simon

Yes - it is possible (I've actually done it on my O/S wing).
Final effect will not be any close to full professional respray, but worth a try
You need to be VEEEEEERY gentle with sanding, as colour base is very thin.

If it is a solid colour then it is possible if you are careful. With a metallic or pearlescent colour then sanding it will mar the colour so you are usually best off carefully scraping the laquer back to good, and then seal the edge with clear laquer and a brush then re-laquer the panel. It won't look fantastic, but usually better than sanding metallic.

I must admit, halfway through I thought OMG but towards the end, as a make do, he didn't do too badly.

It just feels wrong taking sandpaper to it, I may need a few pints before hand, should I decide to do it.

It's a flat red, so can't imagine it behind that hard gulp!
