The breather tubes could be blocked. I tried repairing my breather t piece with a replacement and due to the hole being too small, caused a huge build up of pressure like what you're describing.

Agreed, you have a breather from the front and rear banks, they join together just at the back of the alternator and then the pipe goes across the top of the engine into the throttle assy, they are blocked somewhere along the line

This is the pipe they are referring to:

If you are getting pressure release out of your Oil Filler Cap, this will be blocked.

The pipes become extremely brittle so very easy to do. I tried and gave up and bought a new one from Rimmer's.... http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-LLH102660

When I bought mine I found that the Land Rover part was about £5 cheaper, not anymore - it's now £3 more!

See, where would you be without the forum!? I'm glad it's sorted for you. The breather filters are on my list of to do jobs as it is anyway as they apparantly can leave to the manifold rattle if they're too gunked up with oil.

Enjoy the v6.

Rik.
