Default breather pipe

just a quick question on my 2.5 160 ZT-T there is a pipe on top of the engine which i am assuming is the breather pipe. When looking into changing the spark plugs I noticed that the pipe had come out of the T connector or the left hand side of the engine. With this break in the flow of air through the breather pipe can it cause the engine to misfire, as after taping it up yesterday the engine appeared to run better whilst the car was standing on the drive. Couldn't take it on the road yesterday as couldn't leave sick son in house on own.

Shouldn't cause a misfire, but if it is broken it will allow engine smells into the cabin, they are known to fail quite often. If you want to replace it use part no

LLH102660L

as opposed to

LLH102660

Same part but see the difference in cost

It is a common problem (as is being beaten to it by Stocktake )

Part No: LLH102660
"Hose-camshaft cover to throttle body breather - 12mm - cam cover to
throttle"

which cost £13.70 inc VAT from my local Rover dealer (They said the T-Peice on it's own was not available)

It cured the smell of fumes that were coming into the cabin, but I have to say I've never experienced a misfire with the pipes broken, and I've replaced it twice in the car's lifetime.

Hoping not to have change spark plugs as never done before but sounds like I will still need to change them. But looking at other forums a blocked breather can cause a lot of problems

It could be possilble it could be your rear spark plugs, because as silly as it sounds, ive heard and seen where people just change the front ones as the rear ones are harder to get to,not saying thats the case but just saying lol,
