I was taught Judo at school by the future England coach, only wish I had carried it on im my later life.
Like others bullied somewhat at school luckily it never got out of hand unlike it appears to do today. Hey Carl can we expect to see you lad at the Olympics in 2012? |

I did judo from the age of 12 through to 16. Now pushing 50 but due to the intense physical aspect am able to turn my frequent pot into something flat and less belt stressing. This is not limited to judo but any intense sport.
As for bullying there was a marked change from said groups to a far more athletic frame placed in front of them even if short, the stocky little lad was avoided to prevent a loss of face. I think any sport like judo also opens the eyes to the what can and cannot be achieved with training and reading. I say reading as my judo came on leaps and bounds with a increased awareness of the history and education on the subject from technics and selected training. Alas I discovered beer and girls and my dreams wained some what. Still glad I spent 4 years learning. Oh the beer is still a joy alas the girls are no longer.
