from rover 75 brochure no5717 dated 04/2000
1.8 manual max towing weight
manual 1200kg
auto 1400kg
tow hitch down load 100kg
i believe the tourer is the same .
i believe anything over 2-berth caravans are too heavy.

Most caravan associations recommend beginners only tow a van of up to 85% of your cars kerbweight (should be in your manual) and experienced tower's (not sure if that's a correct word!) tow no more than 100% of the kerbweight.
Perhaps the legal minded people on here could comment but I think the 100% limit is a legal thing?

The newer vans are getting quite heavy and usually the higher the spec the higher the weight but I would guess average 2 berths around 1000 - 1300 kg and 4 berth types anything from 1100 to 1900 kg.
