Default Front wheel bearing change?

Got a rumbling front offside wheel bearing, anything unusual / delicate my brother needs to look out for when changing it

The front bearing is a difficult DIY job. It's not like replacing a rear hub. Removal of the old races and inserting the new ones really needs a hydraulic press and very accurate manipulation. Of course if your bro is a mechanic it should be second nature, but from the sound of your question, he's not. If you've never pressed races in before be prepared for some frustration and maybe some damage. Mr Haynes describes the principles. At least get a copy before you start.

Thanks T-cut, My brother put the engine in, so fairly competent, he has a hydraulic press and does this sort of thing regularly. Never on a 75 though, just thinking about the ABS sensor really.

I will leave him with the bearing and my trusty haynes manual and skidaddle me thinks

Just need to ensure that the ABS built -in reluctor ring on the outside of the bearing is the right way round so that it lines up with the ABS sensor hole in the hub.
(it's possible to fit them the wrong way round)

Care should also be taken not to damage the surface of the reluctor ring otherwise the sensor won't pick up the signal from the bearing.

Well, back from hols and good old little brother of mine, replaced front wheel bearing without the need for new ABS sensor or Brake sensor

Then he found out it was the rear one that was making the noise ( well i have only one working ear, at least i got the correct side )

Anyway, he then changed the back one as well for me

I do love my little Brother
