![]() Hello Simon, I did not carry out the test myself because I have an issue with my right wrist which is restricting me to do anything with it (fractured and had 4th surgery one month ago) however I instructed the mechanic to do the test you said and he came back to me with the simple explanation that the pump is not running anymore, so I just changed the pump as he insisted and here we are, I should have known better... but anyway that pump was indeed not functioning anymore, I tried again giving it current from a battery to make sure, but it obviously is dead, and this was confirmed through the other method, by disconnecting the fuel pipe and swithing the ignition to 2nd position, which did nothing with the old pump, but with this other one, which is an identical pump taken from a scarp car, the fuel is bursting out of the rail, I will try to get now and assistant to do this test myself.

![]() Let's go back to the beginning: you've said the rev counter doesn't move, which would indicate a defective crank sensor. If, even with a new fuel pump, the car doesn't work then I'd be looking at the crank sensor (or wiring), with a possible check of the actual fuel pressure (3.5 bar) as the pump was a used one.

![]() Ok so I went back to the car, listened to the pump, and when switching the ignition on, it definitely engaged and started pumping, but when cranking I couldn't get to listen to it properly and I wasn't sure if it was actually working or not. Assistant tried again for the second time and for God's sake this time the engine fired up, it was running reaaaally sluggish but after revving it up it started acting normally. Turned the engine off, and tried restarting it up a couple of times, these times it started like nothing ever happened. Now it's been standing for a couple of hours, will leave her off a couple more, go back and try firing her up and will come back with an update. It's interesting because, also when bringing it home from the mechanic, the first time I started it, it started up and turned itself off because it was having a harsh time running, started it again, revved it up, everything was ok, and after turning it off and starting her up again, everything seems to be ok, so it's this pattern that whenever it gets the chance to first start up, after it starts running properly, restarting again isn't a problem, only after it sits a while it won't start up again.

![]() Same thing... didn't want to start until I turned the key and cranked her about a dozen of times... and one more thing I noticed, is that after having her running, the fuel gauge was just fluctuating between half full and empty like mad, I then filled up to the tank completely, it stopped fluctuating but it's stuck at exactly half full

With all the cranking that's been necessary, I would place your battery on charge for at least 24 hours without delay! ![]() Simon

Check wiring to crankshaft position sensor, for chaffing, maybe remove the crank sensor clean mating surface and seat it correctly. https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-NSC106100 https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/products/rov...14bd10ca&_ss=r Maybe check for chaffing of wiring on the lambada sensor, on the shield by the exhaust.

![]() Here I am back with the update. So everything is perfectly fine now, eventually after some on-off cycles the pump sorted itself out, I guess the problem was either some air trapped in the system, or just that the pump was sitting for so long and needed some time to readjust itself if that makes any sense from whatever point of view ahah, however I consider myself lucky this time. Thanks to everyone for all your help!
