Dad had a Morris Oxford. It was his first ever "Posh" car after a run of Morris 8s, Ford Pops and a Morris 1000. The Oxford towed our ageing caravan all the way to Lido de Jesolo in Italy, including going over one of the mountain passes (no mean feat with a caravan). We had to do many stops to allow the engine to cool on the uphill drives and the Morris garage in Italy supplied an extra fan blade, which was added in a criss cross fashion (with longer bolts) to improve cooling! The old tinworm did for it in the end after having new front wings and lots of "patches". It never used any oil and sounded as sweet as a nut on its final journey to the breakers yard. (We did fit one set of big ends following the odd rap on initial start up, which cured it).
Enjoy in good health.

Helmsley, so not far out. We did actually go to Ripon while we were up there.

The "poshest" car my father had was an Austin Westminster. It had belonged to a local butcher's mother, reckoning was she drove it with the choke, all it ever did was potter around town. I always remember being lost in the huge back seat myself. A Westminster was nothing new to him, he was in the Traffic Police and the traffic cars were Westminsters, uprated to police spec, he told me they were good for 120mph, which must have been "interesting" with drum brakes

Mine..
I had a Morris Oxford, LWH 666F and it was a lovely old car when I got it in the late 80's, I moved it on to a restorer and haven't a clue where it might be today. I was busy with my Cortina and a young family back then, I was stupid to get rid of it but I was only 22 and didn't know better.
