Mot time, and a question about storing a 75
Hello,
Taking my W reg 2.5 for an MOT this week, It normally does ok at the MOT but is anyone finding these new MOT rules from April causing issues? i.e. I am sure I read somewhere about missing heat guards is a new failure but I seem to remember mine came off after it was damaged a few years ago, was spotted and pulled off whilst we fitted a new engine mount back in about 2015. I also need to get the damn windscreen washers going again. Another question, the Rover is going into short term storage soon so I will look into getting a lockup which I presume are all more or less a standard size. Has anyone else used one and does a 75 saloon fit ok? Thank you, and kind Regards Stephen |

It should be a failure, although I've seen people on Facebook claim to have an mot without!

Definitely not a standard size, you would need to measure. Yesterday I was checking the garage at the flats where I’m staying down in Kent at the moment, to see if it could accommodate my 75 Tourer if I ever brought it down. Only about 4.4 metres in length so way too short for any 75. Yet years ago I remember squeezing the Audi 100 I had at the time into another garage on the same estate!

My heatshields are missing and I asked the mot guy about this and his answer was...
If they are loose it's a fail... If they are missing its a pass... Then asked me when is the last time I saw a car catch fire due to a missing heat shield? Never I said. There you go then,if its not there I can't test it. I guess different mot testers have different ideas on the rules

I had to perform a quick fix on the car I had tested today.
When I dropped off the exhaust to weld up a small hole in the silencer (original system and it was an advisory last year) I noticed the heatshield below the fuel tank was adrift at the rear, where it's bolted to the subframe. A couple of penny washers fixed that before the exhaust was refitted They shouldn't be removed, they should be replaced, they're on there for a reason Brian All types of T4 Diagnostics now available Official 160 BHP diesel tune upgrades NOT stolen versions from Barnsley VIN SARRJHLHC3D281232 MG ZT V6 160PS to 177PS Upgrades Also official X-Power upgrades available Keys Supplied and Programmed ECM Testing Repair, and Replacement ZCS Coding and Used IPK reflashing PM me for details Find your nearest T4 operator here Last edited by marinabrian; 20th August 2018 at 15:34.. |
