Managed to read the label on the dampers and they were the standard comfort ones so have ordered a pair, should be here any day. Will be good to get under and check everything else while at it. Have checked the trailing arm bushes and they both look and feel good with no play.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to start with taking the rear trim off to access the top of the dampers?

Spill the beans. Where can I get self levelling rear suspension dampers for a 75 Tourer?
