ZT 190 - Random tremor at idle
Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone has come accross a similar issue to this before. When idling, every few seconds you can feel a small tremor pass through the car. It's not violent or especially intrusive, but certainly noticeable. The tremors are not consistent. One every 5 seconds, or sometimes nothing for maybe 10 or 15 seconds. Sometimes one may immediately follow another. Also, the rev counter needle moves very slightly, a milimeter or two upward and back down. The car is ZT 190, 65,000 miles. Recently serviced, including new spark plugs and VIS motors recently changed. The issue was present before all of this, so I'm certain I haven't caused it by anything I've done. The car is certainly not down on performance when being worked hard, but I do find it bogs down very easily when pulling away if you don't quite apply enough throttle, and when changing from 1st to 2nd, but maybe this is just a normal characteristic of these cars... My mechanic witnessed the issue, but couldn't find anything wrong and suggested I try injector cleaner. Haven't done that yet. Any suggestions from the collective wisdom of the forum? Many thanks. |

Buy a throttle body rebuild kit from rimmers, a ten min job to fit, pretty sure this will cure the issue.

If the revs drop quite low, this will cause a little shudder which you willl feel like it’s about to stall. So, that could be the problem. Is there not a nipple on the throttle body that can be adjusted? Or, does the V6 have a throttle reset procedure ?

Maurice did this, one rebuild kit later and he hasn't done it in 5 years. Also make sure the throttle cable is properly adjusted, they can easily become too loose as they stretch over time - leading to you not getting a proper full throttle response.

Apologies for being dense, but I can't seem to find anything called a "throttle body rebuild kit". What does the kit comprise of?
