Will be removing the high pressure pump in the very near future to replace the seals......wish me luck

Yes there’s a little radiator there, which cools the diesel on its return to the main tank. They can get holes in them from stones flying up from the road or whatever or, in my case, their metal pipe stubs can split, or the hoses which fasten onto them.

I think they’re quite expensive new, but I managed to get a cheap used one in good condition, and it’s been fine for several years now.

This is a common problem with our cars

Yes the fuel cooler or it's related pipework/thermostat.

Hi Dragan.
As above check that all the small hoses going to and from the fuel cooler are intact and not flared out at the ends, if you find one it cut little flare off or add another clip.

if you have an FBH the dosing pump is located just in front of the rear right wheel so check that for leaks

If there is a small leak on the high pressure side, then care should be taken when the engine is run with the cover removed due to the risk of injury from fine jets of pressurised fuel.

Could be a good call with what we know now over the last few days photo of said dosing pump below, also check the pipe work from it.
