Default Locking Wheel Bolt Splines

Hello All.
My 2003 ZTT has the original splined security wheel bolts (12 spline)
One has no splines left at all, the tool rotates very readily within the bolt
Apart from drilling, does anyone have a solution to remove the bolt?
Your ideas will be greatly appreciated
Richard

Find an impact socket thats very tight and hammer it on then spin it off and never use the lockers again. Nobody steals rover alloys. Replace with regular nuts.

I doubt if an impact socket would fit between the locking stud and the wheel, it's a very tight space.
You could get a small strip of tin and hammer the existing adaptor onto the offending locking stud sandwiching the tin plate thus making the fit much tighter.

I would do this after removing the remaining four studs and with the car jacked up of course. This may allow slight movement on the locking stud.

Good luck

Chisel and a hammer works rather well, you just have to be careful!

Think I will get rid of my locking nuts over the weekend, seem to read about this problem more and more now - the splines must be coming to the end of their life - probably not helped by tyre dealers and their windy guns.
