FAI parts SS1195 and SS1196. I have a pair of these ready to fit to my project car, in the hope they are a good quality aftermarket part. |

Its always nice to have a track history of the different items. It seems like most owners does not cover enough mileage/own the car long enough to give an idea of how long these aftermarket items last. It seems that even the cheapest parts outlive the ownership of the owner that fitted the items. In my case, I covers approx 15000miles/year and has owned my 1.8 for over 5 years now. I have to admit that I am quite disappointed with the last arm as the cost of it was at the high end side. What surprises me, is that the LH arm that was fitted by the local LR garage before my ownership on my 1.8, has covered over 80000miles and is still tight as new. I have no idea what make it is, but it has survived 2x of the arms on the RH side. And on the top of it, I have a brand new aftermarket LH arm from Rimmers on my shelf in backup as I expected that this was the next one on the list I have now placed an order for one of Matts SAIC arms, in the belief that this is the last RH arm I replace on that car: https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/products/cop...2510-rbj102511 The Mapco arm fitted to my V6 is still performing like it should, but this car does not cover a lot of miles pr. year. You'll have no bother with the arms from us - we were very involved in the process of sourcing these from a trusted supplier, and with over 200 pairs (so 400 arms in total) now out there and zero, yes zero issues reported - we're quite confident!
The bushes pre-fitted also seem to be of excellent quality. You get what you pay for...

Hi All,
The new arm was delivered at my front door yesterday, 5 days after it was ordered. DHL does a great job Visually, there was little difference compared to the old one. The rubber boot around the lower ball joint seems to be a bit tougher and the rear bush felt softer than the old one. It did not have the same "hard rubber" feel and look like the other ones I have fitted but felt more like a mix of rubber and silicone. The old FAI bush was well beyond its due date.... It took me 1 hour and 20 mins from the moment I raise the car until it touched ground again. No need to say that this is not the first time I replace an arm Everything nicely back in place and no clunks anymore. Hope it lasts now Last edited by beinet1; 9th June 2016 at 12:22.. |

On closer inspection I found a hole in the rubber boot for the lower ball joint on the old arm. I guess thats why it failed

OH NO, not another arm...

What disappoints me, is that all the so-called high quality lower arms I have fitted to both the cars does not last at all, which the genuine fitted ones from the factory seems to last for the life of the cars sometimes. I believe the arms DMGRS supplies is good, but not able to confirm as the DMGRS arm I fitted to my 1.8 went away together with the car the last winter. Is there not any that are able to manufacture decent lower arms + rear bush and drop links that lasts??? Seems most is NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- and it does not matter where you get them from |
