I have two CDTis, both fully serviced, one has the EGR bypass but the other does not. The former is definitely quicker than the latter.

Not conclusive that though is it?
I used to deliver lot's of these when brand new. Some were quicker than others back then

Hardly
Now that’s something I really don’t get. I can understand 10-year-old cars performing differently, for all sorts of reasons. But when I see people here claiming 55mpg for automatics, when I can’t get more than 45 driving VERY carefully in my manual diesel (which T4 says is all working as it should), I do wonder if there were all sorts of undocumented production differences… or alternatively, can I please have some of the tablets the 55mpg owners were taking?

I said what I said. It is definitely the case that one is faster than the other. It is a little bit of fact and a little bit of evidence one way or another. I will be changing the bypass soon enough, I had previously cleaned the EGR valve thoroughly. When it is changed, if the difference is marked I will report it here. |

Which is why T4 accepts a range of values as anywhere within is acceptable.

Oh, I know that Harry... it's just that the differences seem unfeasibly large

The only way to tell is a before and after rolling road test.
