Default Another high mileage example

I got a taxi from Bognor Regis station last night and was pleasantly surprised to be picked up in a shiny, 05 plate 75 diesel. Whilst on the road to Barnham I looked at the mileage and saw it read the impressive total of 300555! The driver reckoned he had bought it from another taxi driver a couple of years ago with about 150k on the clock and that, apart from servicing and consumables, it had cost him next to nothing to run. It certainly sounded healthy enough. There's longevity for you.

Which I think proves the point, if you look after the car it will look after you

When my 51 plate Conny cdt (203K) was in for it's MOT and service in February the MOT tester actually got the rest of the mechanics there to look and listen, now for someone who works on cars for 5 1/2 days a week that says a lot in my book, I was quite chuffed to be honest

Agreed,

Honestly maintancne... oil changes/good oil/filters and coolant changes (obviously belts and etc if it needs it)

Is THE key to your car lasting, my old Saab 9-5 was pushing 400bhp and had over 180k on the clock.
IT still made that power i bought a used 160k mile B324 engine used my 180k head, all i ever did was change the bearing shells, chain and tensioners plus new oil/plugs/HG

It made 398bhp and ran like that for years... in fact its still going now with its new owner.
Nearly knocking on 200k now.
It did suffer HG failure but he told me this was actually a defect in the gasket as it was sent back to the manufacturer.
So all in all, look after your car and it will last a very long time....
