Noises
Got a few of weird noises. They don't worry me really but I thought I'd mention them to see if people said "ah, that'll be the xxxx" or "oh no, you've broken your yyyy".
Noise 1: Steering, mostly on full lock, more noticeable when starting from cold. Kind of twanging noise that rises in pitch slightly. Noise 2: When driving at low speed (I live in speed hump city) a short rasping noise from the engine/exhaust just when it's put under load. Noise 3: A very faint rubbing sound from the nearside front wheel. Only happened once. As I say, they're not a major concern and I think I only hear them because it's so quiet, but I was just wondering what they were. Thanks |

1/ Check front springs. Have been known to break usually at bottom end.
Noise may also be worn top strut bearings - another known one. If you have a broken spring replace both sides and whilst you there replace top strut bearings anyway. 2/ Loose heat shield perhaps 3/ May be connected with 1, broken spring(s) Last edited by David3807; 24th July 2008 at 10:16.. |

Noise 3 could be your ABS cable or Break Pad wear indicator cable rubbing against the tyre. Worth giving it a look over
