Shouldn't need to rush Nick - as long as everything else is working as it should, and you keep over a quarter of a tank of fuel on board, you will be fine until you source a replacement.

Did over 20k miles with mine just on the UBP, and it was still going strong when I replaced them both.

Hinmike. Had over a quarter of a tank when the car cut out on the M4. I put another 2 gallons in the hope it would start but to no avail. The rac man did a diagnostic and the only fault code was for low fuel pressure. Removed the outlet from the UBP and there was literally a trickle. Removed the outlet from the in tank pump and there was nothing. Tested the wiring and there was 12v so possibly the UBP Is lazy too I don't know. I've ordered a replacement pump today so hoping replacing it into the original unit isn't too much ball ache!

Sounds like you need to replace both the ITP and UBP low pressure pumps.

Just to double check the outlet for the ITP is on the nearside tank top. The spill return and the supply to the fuel burning heater are both on the offside.

Nicky, try the breakers at Llantrissant (Gibbs?) he had a tourer diesel in the other day, I think the UTP and UBP were intact, he is opposite the fire service HQ.
