Swiss hols...............
Hi all, off to Switzerland for holidays on the 7th. June and just wondering if anyone has been there lately as I need to know if they accept Euros readily. Not been there since the invention of the euro only got quite a few left over from other holidays so didn't want to change to sterling or swiss francs if you know what I mean but all would depend how it would compare in the shops on the exchange rate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers KB

I was there last year and the currency is swiss franc. I didn't attempt to use Euro's but do recall several shop signs saying they did.
It might be that tourist areas are more willing to trade them, but if you dip over the border (such as Italy) they don't recipricate, i.e. they don't accept CHF. btw. Fabulous country. Very impressed with it. Prices comparable to UK with some things cheeper and only a few dearer. Which part are you going to? 1 last thing. Coming back to the UK we went through the EU chanel at the airport and got our knuckles rapped. |

Thanks for that JohnFol, We are flying to Zurich, get there about 11am, then have a beautiful four hour transfer by train to Grindelwald where we are staying, our hotel is just outside the town but faces the Eiger and our room has views and large balcony of this wonderful mountain. The good thing about this holiday is once we check our baggage in at the airport we don't see it again until we arrive at the hotel (or never at all the way things are going at the moment). Cheers KB
